Role Purpose

The Key Account has the responsibility to develop, execute and monitor the customers’ - under his responsibility - strategy and business plan. Also steers the customers’ portfolio by adapting Regional / International strategies. Drives NR, Market Share, Distribution, TI and GM in area of responsibility. Is also responsible for the implementation and optimization of the Customers Promo Plan and Productivity Plans. In specific, the role has accountability for the full scope of RB’s commercial interaction with the customers. The role requires close cross functional interaction with trade marketing, supply, marketing and finance.


Summary of Responsibilities

Strategy and Business Planning

  • Develop, execute and monitor the annual/monthly customer plan
  • Deliver annual/monthly targets per customer – NR, GM, TI, MS
  • Constantly monitor customer’s P&L and financial KPI’s
  • Constantly monitor customer’s in-market performance
  • Manage product/brand mix per customer for efficiency and profitability
  • Develops action plans to close performance/KPIs gaps
  • Negotiate and agree the annual agreements with customers based on pay for performance model (counterparts)
  • Is responsible to place new product launches based on ND & WD% target
  • Is responsible for the forecasting accuracy of customers of responsibility based on SISO model
  • Identify development opportunities in all areas of his responsibility to grow customers’ performance

Promotions, Point-of-Sales

  • Develop the promotional strategy and execution per customer including trade budget management through maintaining and monitoring promo execution in specific system (Accelerate) respecting end month closing calendar
  • Respect promo guidelines and catalogue
  • Evaluates promotions and proposes actions
  • Manage customer through 4Ps strategic pillars
  • Is responsible to implement LSM guidelines in customers of responsibility
  • Is responsible to achieve WD, ND, WDD, SOS and SOA targets per brand per segment
  • Is in close contact with Sales Field Team and Trade Marketing Team
  • Regular field visits routines to monitor:
  • In store 4Ps execution / In Store Picture of Success
  • Competitive activities within RB’s and complementary categories

Customer Relationships

  • Ensure a broadly-based positive business relationship across the customers. Ensures formal customer reviews take place regularly to ensure an integrated business to business relationship. Builds excellent customer relationships on an individual basis
  • Ensure that all relevant departments are well informed to serve the customer and support the achievement of the objectives

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • At least 7 years work experience in Sales and Marketing within FMCG.
  • 2-3 years at Key Account Manager role
  • University / higher education degree
  • Fluent in English
  • Commercial & strategic thinking
  • Financial Acumen
  • Shopper and Consumer Insights
  • Category and Product Knowledge
  • Budget Management
  • Legal knowledge
