R&D Manager

An opportunity is available for a Manager to join our R&D Operations team in Dongguan, China.

A great opportunity to be a part of a fast paced and dynamic team, where you’ll be empowered to technically lead disinfection and wipes projects – you will use your product development and delivery experience to work on exciting and fast paced projects. As part of the EAST (East Asian Sourcing Team) you will develop strong transferable skills from true end-to-end projects; proof of principle / feasibility right through to successful launch into market.

Responsibilities
  • Working with the Category R&D teams to manage and deliver innovation and roll-out projects for the Hygiene brands in an efficient, cost effective and timely manner.
  • Managing workstreams on projects with technical, chemical and executional complexity as well as speed to market challenges.
  • Managing and guiding your team and EMO’s on the technical and development of Hygiene disinfection and wipes products in line with Success Criteria, COGs targets and manufacturability.
  • Setting up and managing a wet laboratory in Dongguan to formulate, develop and test in a safe and efficient manner to drive performance and claim substantiation.
  • To have an understanding of consumer needs and insights, underpinning product development and delivery, resulting in exciting and relevant ideas and opportunities appropriate for the Hygiene portfolio.
  • To develop a working commercial knowledge and a network with the Hygiene Category Teams to understand their needs, thus ensuring proper response to business needs.
  • Work closely with EMO’s and cross functional stakeholders to ensure projects and technologies are transferred seamlessly and supported to become successful market launches
Skills and Experience required
  • Must be qualified to degree standard in a relevant scientific discipline, ideally Chemistry or Science with experience of working in a laboratory.
  • Technical expertise and curiosity with a passion for problem solving and delivery. A proven track record of results.
  • A desire to better understand consumers in order to deliver new and improved benefits through chemistry and technology.
  • A good understand the R&D development process and the key challenges and hurdles to be overcome in delivery of a product to market.
  • A bias for action. Extremely focussed to ensure experimental programmes meet objectives. The ability to overcome obstacles by getting support from others and strong problem solving skills.
  • Good communicator coupled with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Have great collaboration skills, be a good team player, a personable person with a creative and open attitude and action focus.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and create clarity for decision making when a diverse range of options are available.
