Senior Laboratory Technician, Analytical Sciences


Collect, prepare, and analyze samples to support Research and Development, Supply Chain, R&D Operations, Marketing, and other departments as requested.  Perform analytical methods on various sample matrices as requested (full amino acids profiles, molecular weight profiles, headspace analysis, protein, sialic acid, SDS-PAGE, and others).  Compose highly detailed analytical reports in a timely manner.  Follow lab safety guidelines. 


Participate in method optimization, and regular review of methods and analytical reports.  Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments.  Perform duties required in the routine maintenance of a safe and appropriate laboratory environment.  Maintain current, complete, legible notebooks and laboratory records in compliance with good scientific and regulatory practices.  Keep manager informed as appropriate of sample/instrument issues through timely verbal and written communication.  Perform complex calculations and trouble shooting of analytical problems.  Work in a laboratory environment using teamwork and interpersonal skills to accomplish goals.


Bachelor’s degree in a natural science (chemistry, biology, food science, etc.) highly preferred.  Two years of experience in an analytical laboratory required.  Experience with HPLC, IC, GC, protein analyzers, amino acid analyzers, and other types of analytical instrumentation strongly preferred.  Demonstrates attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.  Demonstrates ability to work both independently and as part of a team.  Experience using Microsoft based computer applications is required.  Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.  Demonstrates the ability to achieve results while operating within company policies and procedures.
