As a Category Manager you play an important role within the German organization. You are the key interface between Trade Marketing, Key Account and the customers of your assigned channel. You take the lead for channel and category strategy implementation taking into account the shopper needs in our categories. 

Owning your business you are responsible for

  • Leading category management projects and be the trusted advisor 
    • developing category management vision per account and execute through leading category reviews and category management projects, assortment optimization, price & promo assessment, micro & macro-shelf placement
    • defining role, strategy, category growth drivers and potential of each channel / customer
    • generating meaningful and actionable shopper insights and prepares recommendations based on in depth data analysis of scanner data (Nielsen Answers) and household panels (Nielsen Trade Planner / GFK SimIT) for respective customer categories
    • identifying gaps in shopper/category understanding to address key business questions
    • co-piloting the research manager in running the research projects, helps in negotiations with key retailers to run shelf tests, interviews, observations etc.
    • analyzing customer execution in our categories using household panel and scanner data 
  • Leading BIC channel and customer execution
    • leading customer activation agenda within your assigned channel from planning to execution 
    • developing customer specific promotions as part of the customer activation plan
    • generating promotion learnings through in-depth insights from sell out data and loyalty card data and transform them into shopper-relevant concepts
    • leading development and implementation of customer-specific in-store materialPropose channel specific assortment execution to Trade Marketing 
    • monitoring competitive promotional activities and share learnings with the Trade Marketing team
  • Deploying national initiatives to customers
    • turning national trade stories into compelling customer trade stories and best in class presentation to the buyer in customer meetings
    • monitoring performance of new products vs. internal and external targets
    • developing and supporting execution of customer MSL (must stock list) across brands based on channel MSL in order to drive efficient assortments
    • Sharing and exploiting best practices within and across channels and categories/brands
You will succeed, because...

…you have an excellent understanding of the marketing mix and have delivered highly effective campaigns. You

  • have minimum of 5 years functional experience in category management with large centralised accounts (including graduate programme) in a blue chip FMCG or market research company in the German market
  • are highly analytical, comfortable working with a wide range of data sources, you make fact-based decisions, recommendations and forecasts 
  • are able to translate plans into customer marketing actions
  • are a n excellent communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment
