External Affairs Director, Hong Kong & Taiwan

Job Description

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement strategies for developing and building relationship / connection with Hong Kong & Taiwan government, regulatory bodies, media and infant formula associations
• Build organization capability in external affairs particularly in communication with government, regulatory bodies, media and infant formula association
• Translate brand strategies into actionable public affairs tactics
• Synthesize complex issues and diverse information to capture critical implications for organization and brands
• Develop annual PR plan & manage budget to support overall corporate image and all company products
• Direct PR agencies to develop and implement PR programs
• Monitor competitors’ PR activities and recommend to Opcom on necessary actions
• Provide critical counsel, leadership and strategic communications input on issues that impact company’s reputation. Provide early issue alert to senior management through consistent media monitoring
• Transform and deliver insights via incisive and meaningful communications which are customized to key audiences: Government, media, customers, key opinion leaders, general public and employees
• Develop crisis management framework and monitor crisis management with clear strategic thinking under adverse conditions and decisive manner
• Liaise closely with government advocacy and public policy functions in developing strategies, position statements and responses to issues
• Act as the leading channel, coordinator and doorkeeper of government and industry related communications. Partner with Sales and Regulatory Affairs to develop effective external networks
• Build relationships and provide advice where relevant in relation to media commentators and influence in public policy areas
• Foster integration and partnership with Marketing and Sales to formulate and execute integrated marketing communication strategies which generate brand awareness and customer demand
• Conceive, develop, implement and evaluate communication and public relations strategies for both internal and external audiences
• Build a high performing team by motivating, recognizing and rewarding performers and drivers for innovation, execution excellence and team leadership
• Be a role model in leading a discipline performance review with direct reports
 

Qualification and Skills
• Bachelor degree or above in Business Administration, Marketing or Communications, MBA is preferred
• A minimum of 15 years of experience in external affairs or related function
• Have good rapport and understanding of government bodies
• Must have working experience in multinational corporation
• Knowledge in Nutritional portfolio and in-depth knowledge of local market, western customers and competitors are required
• Mastery of marketing, selling and business administration skills
• Fluent written and spoken English and Chinese
