R&D Manager - Laundry Disinfection and Innovation



R&D Manager will report to Senior Manager, Dettol Hygiene and will take responsibility for the following exciting areas:

  1. Laundry Disinfection – lead a team of 3 people, to deliver on exciting new territory for Dettol – Laundry Disinfection. Create the pipeline, delivery the projects, make a difference for health of families across the world.
  2. Innovation for Surface Disinfection – lead a team of 2 very experienced professionals to assess feasibility of new formulations, work with suppliers for raw materials and technologies. Identify and plant technology seeds that will grow into future projects, enabling Dettol to continue to innovate, delight consumers and improve safety and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities


  • Lead a team of 5 people structure into Innovation and Laundry Disinfection sub-teams
  • Assure product development is done vs product criteria.
  • Own risks, take decisions and manager for success
  • Develop your team, invest in skillsets, and see to growth of your people
  • Zero in on problems, identify solutions and achieve tangible results
  • Agree with Marketing, Regulatory, Manufacturing and other functions on criteria, claims and actions
  • End to end responsibility - take the products from idea, for scale up and launch at the factory for Laundry
  • Innovation – scope feasibility of materials and formulations and handover to developments teams for Triggers, Dillutables, Wipes.
  • Coordinate product testing with Microbiology, Analytical, Fragrance, and Sensory groups, as needed.
  • Recommend ways for products to remain competitive in challenging consumer goods market
  • Maintain products in compliance by overseeing preparation of product dossiers used for launches and product registrations.
  • Highly preferred – Laundry experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 8 years of lab and people leadership experience
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate, including MS Word, Excel and other related computer skills.
  • Knowledge or experience of the Consumer Products market.
  • GLP/GMP experience a plus
