US Sales & Trade Marketing Controller, VMS

Parsippany, New Jersey

Commercial Finance support position responsible for all aspects of financial control and business partnership with Sales and Trade Marketing.  



  • Partner with Sales Director and Trade Marketing Directors Team to “own” the brand and customer P&L
  • Understand and influence drivers of all P&L buckets in support of division objectives, challenge assumptions and drive adjustments as needed
  • Obtain & provide clarity when numbers are off trend and work with Directors to course correct
  • Ensure attainment of financial and stretch objectives as committed
  • Ensure the necessary accounting controls and policies are followed
  • Focus on Gross Margin Variance Analysis and identify opportunities to support and drive the earnings model
  • Explain and validate all customer by brand fluctuations on actuals and forecast basis
  • Drive the analytical support (pre and post event) for trade spend, Marketing and other investments with resulting ROIs
  • Validation of global targets, definition of US targets, ad-hoc and forward looking of Net Revenue targets per unit
  • Work in partnership with Trade Marketing, Marketing and Sales giving consistency in the pricing review and target setting
  • Return on Investment (ROI) analysis from a sell in point of view and sell out
  • Advice best practices and add value giving financial evidences to support strategical decisions
  • Add financial input in Local Success Models and promotional strategy
  • Manage Shopper Marketing spend for the brands and ensure tight management of the budget
  • Special projects, as needed



  • BS degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA and/or CPA and/or CMA a plus
  • 5 years financial experience in Finance or Planning and Analysis
  • Ability to operate in a highly focused, entrepreneurial environment and expected to challenge and influence business decisions based on fact-based information and meaningful analytics
  • Interpersonal and entrepreneurial skills to allow for mutual understanding of problems and development of cooperative solutions
  • Ability to interact face to face with senior management with confidence and credibility to achieve financial commitments
  • Ability to provide financial support and handle multiple tasks within an open and interactive environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong system direction and interaction (SAP, Microsoft Office)
