Scope & Dimension of the Role

The Legal Counsel Hygiene role is a part of RB’s global team of legal professionals and support staff based in several locations worldwide. You must be proactive and collaborative with the functional colleagues in other jurisdictions in order to provide excellent legal advice and support.

Key Competencies

• You must have a detailed and broad knowledge of a range of legal aspects.
• You are expected to understand and act on legal implications, which may not be apparent to those without the expertise, and also communicate those implications effectively to internal stakeholders.
• You must have a sound analytical ability to assess potential risks, flag them and build adequate safeguard to avoid negative implications is a necessity.
• Sensitivity in dealing with regulators is essential.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities 1/2

1. CONTRACT MANAGEMENT - Contract negotiations across a range of products, goods and services including inbound procurement and outbound supply services.

2. CONTENTIOUS MATTER MANAGEMENT - Support the management of any litigation and dispute resolution and providing practical, commercial and risk-focused advice to the business.

3. ADVERTISEMENT DISPUTES AND MARKETING EXCELLENCE - As the support legal contact for all local advertising and marketing matters such

4. BRAND PROTECTION & IP PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT - Providing local legal support to the Global Brand Protection Team and Global Patents Team.

5. COMPLIANCE - You will support matters such as competition law, bribery, corruption, product safety and consumer protection, manufacturing processes and operations, data privacy, environmental legalisation and RB’s operating model, investigations on Speak Up (whistle blower) cases and manage ethics and compliance risk within SEA and Indonesia business operations.

6. COMPANY SECRETERIAT AND CORPORATE MANAGEMENT - You will support the legal strategy for strategic corporate projects from time to time. This will require close attention to detail on multi-jurisdictional and cross-border legal considerations. You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders including finance, tax, supply and others.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities 2/2

7. TRAININGS - Building and supporting an effective legal, compliance training curriculum and communications and implementing the same across the SEA and Indonesia business.

8. EXTERNAL COUNSEL MANAGEMENT - Managing external counsel and legal budget.

9. SALES OUTPERFORMANCE - Driving market strategies as per strategic advice and evaluating risk management in compliance with local laws and execution of contracts.

10. MANUFACTURING EXCELLENCE - Supporting copacker RMPM vendor supply, machinery and equipment contracts (amongst others).

11. PEOPLE - Support Human Resources on legal advice - labour and employment issues including advising on HR processes, employee terminations / severances, settlement agreements, compensation and benefits and talent acquisition.

12. GENERAL - Driving the legal support strategy and implementing the directions and processes required to provide a robust, timely, commercially-minded and risk-focused commercial support team.

Professional Qualification & Experience
  • You should be a qualified lawyer with 4-5 years post qualification experience. Leadership experience and post graduate qualifications are advantageous.
  • In-house work experience is highly advantageous. Work experience in consumer goods is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate strong competencies in core areas of laws such as competition law/anti-trust with good awareness of labour and employment matters, corporate and commercial laws.
