Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership in managing behavior relative to policy, procedures and functionally assigned tasks
  • Provides leadership in working with Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities and R&D groups to ensure Salt Lake City plant cGMP/FDA operations can successfully meet needs of company and consumers
  • Designs and consults electrical technology and systems for production, processing and power distribution systems that comply with specified cGMP criteria
  • Designs and maintains a controls library and develop/train technicians on site for troubleshooting and escalation
  • Manages electrical bias projects $50k - $500k
  • Manages directly people and its performance reviews. Makes sure HC budget fits to plan
  • Reviews, engineers and manages electrical distribution and control systems
  • Creation and management of site wide electrical schematics
  • Works with plant operations to ensure behaviors and on-going process improvements meet cGMP requirements with no negative consequence to quality
  • Assures compliance with all regulatory agencies and helps implement procedures and policies for on-going compliance and measurement
  • Manages interaction with governmental agencies and customers as necessary
  • Drives root cause analysis and failures with implementation of all corrective and preventative actions
  • Coordinates the installation and start-up of new equipment with Engineering teams
  • Prepares work specifications and negotiates contracts for work to be performed by outside contractors.  Coordinates/directs work of outside contractors to insure quality completion of project and adherence to all applicable codes, regulations, laws and plant policies including OSHA, EPA, FDA, and RB Contractor Management
Professional Qualifications
  • B.S. Electrical Engineering Discipline / Programming and Controls Background specialties
  • Must be a Certified Master Electrician
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in an electrical/controls engineering capacity in manufacturing environments with sound knowledge and practical engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of common electrical systems drawings and documentation, such as electrical plans and elevations, conduit and cable schedules, one-line diagrams, MCC and switchgear layouts and details, electrical panel schedules, wiring diagrams, motor-control and other schematics, P&IDs, lighting plans, heat-trace diagrams, electrical equipment specification sheets, motor lists, etc.
  • Knowledge about programming in different platforms as well as capabilities to troubleshoot any PLC controlled equipment
  • Fault finding capability on power distributions circuits and production related equipment
  • Controls experience with Allen Bradley and / or other industrial control systems
  • Experience with HVAC, compressed air, Purified Water, Dust collection, humidification systems
  • Knowledge of cGMP and/or FDA regulatory compliance.
  • Working knowledge of CAD, Microsoft Office, Project Management Software
  • Above average analytical and organizational skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal and problems solving skills in dynamic environment where managing multiple priorities is the norm
  • Strong personal leadership skills, good presentation, verbal and written communication skills
  • Self starter and solid team player who is willing to challenge the status-quo
  • Root cause analysis techniques
  • Change control and deviation management
  • Committed to continuous improvement and learning
  • Working knowledge of SAP (desirable)
